Through a network of forestry partners, including the Family Forest Network, forest operations on Easement properties are held to the highest standards of ecological forestry, incorporating innovative practices and the best available science.

Ecological Forestry is the act of harvesting trees in a way that mimics the natural processes of a forest and encourages biodiversity, natural regeneration and perpetuates ecosystem function.
Collaborative woodland management is essential to the success of the NSWWT.
The NSWWT is a proud member of the Family Forest Network (FFN), a collective of small woodlot organizations that help private landowners adopt ecological forestry practices through outreach, demonstration, and research. Being part of this network connects us to a wide community of forestry professionals across the province, fostering innovation and the exchange of valuable knowledge.
Our team of forestry experts leads the management planning and monitoring, while collaborating with skilled forestry professionals, woodlot service providers, researchers and operators to ensure the health and success of these woodlands, promoting ecological resilience and long-term sustainability.
Ecological forestry is the only type of forest management allowed on properties with an easement through NSWWT. However, if conservation is the primary goal, active woodland management is not required.
